WEEKEND SNOWSTORM BLASTS PARK CITY MOUNTAIN RESORT
Two Feet of Snow in Two Days
Park City, Utah (December 31, 2007) – A powerful winter snowstorm dumped 25 inches of Utah’s famous powder on Park City Mountain Resort in the last 72 hours.
"This storm came just in time to ring in the New Year with fantastic skiing and riding conditions,” said Krista Parry, director of marketing and communications for Park City Mountain Resort. “This latest snowfall lets us provide our holiday guests with the experience they expect from a top-ten resort with the type and amount of snow Utah has become famous for. There’s really no comparison!”
This latest winter storm provided consistent snowfall over multiple days. The following are snow totals from the past week:
24 hours - 12 inches
48 hours - 22 inches
72 hours - 25 inches
From Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve - 31 inches
Park City Mountain Resort is reporting a 49-inch base at the summit. The Resort currently has all 15 lifts open accessing 98 runs, eight bowls, three terrain parks and two half-pipes. According to the WeatherBank forecast, additional weather systems will move across the area on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Park City Mountain Resort has many exciting events lined up for season. For the fourth year in a row, Picabo Street will be hosting a celebrity ski challenge on January 20, 2008 at the Resort. All proceeds from this event will benefit National Children's Alliance and the Children's Advocacy Center Programs. On March 8, 2008, Park City Mountain Resort will once again host the World Superpipe Championships, one of the premier pipe competitions for the best invited skiers and riders in the world including Shaun White and Tanner Hall, among others.
