Top 10 Patrol Day

Oh my!
A perfect cold, clear powder day in the Wasatch. As promissed, the day started with a gorgeous sunrise, lots of explosives, and a few VERY LARGE avalanches. As I mentioned yesterday, the hazard is high and the couple monster slides we pulled out this morning are definitely indicative of that.
This slide extended for 500+ feet from North Two Goons through Limber Pine (don't worry, all those tracks on the viewer's left were put in AFTER we opened the area).
We had alot of traffic on Pinecone and the Peak today; thanks to all the locals who made the hike and had a good time today. Seeing hundreds of happy and snowy faces all day made the work seem worth while. There is still PLENTY of untracked snow out there to ride and ski. Tomorrow is supposed to be equally clear and I'd say if you didn't make it out today, DO make it out in the morning. And if anyone there thinks we're overly cautious with our closures, make the trip out to Pinecone Ridge and check out what these slides did. Nothing quite like an outdoor classroom to advance your avalanche awareness. We'll see you on the hike.

Are the conditions good for two beginner to intermediate folks to get up the mountain on Monday? I've heard alot about avanlanches. Should I be worried? I'm determining if I should go to Park City or another resort. Thanks for your reply in advance.

Patrick, if you're staying inbounds at a resort (like PCMR) the risk of an avalanche is next to nothing due to the fact that our snow safety team does a large amount of control work to trigger any potential avalanche prior to public is on the mountain. So, please plan to come on up and enjoy the great conditions!
