Ever thought about how you get up the hill here at Park City Mountain Resort? It's not just our chairlifts, but the men and women of our lift operations department who are moving you, our guests, onto moving machinery in a safe, friendly and fun manner.
The Lift Operations department is made up of several entities: our highly trained and skilled lifties, lift access personnel, lift maintenance and the volunteer lift line coordinators all work in unison to make your experience on the mountain safe and fun. These team members usually arrive to prepare for their day on the snow while the parking lot is empty and the moon is still in the sky, but each one of them loves what they do and they love our guests that come to the mountain. Each engaging statement of "good morning, hello how is the snow" makes our guests feel just how we would like them to...at home.
Each of these talented individuals strives to be the best at bringing their A-game and each week the department hands out its "Silver" awards to lift ops team members and departments who distinguish themselves. Without any further ado, let's introduce you to this week's award winners...
The Silver Shoveler Award is presented to one lift each week based upon several factors including guest safety and satisfaction. Sometimes you might even see snow designs and sculptures around the lift, like Pioneer Lift's recent "snow shark." This week's winner: First Time lift!
The Silver Screener Award is presented to a team member from the lift Lift Access department who exhibits the greatest commitment to customer service and safety, reliability and appearance, and assists the guests while they begin their adventure at PCMR. The team members again are out in the cold making sure everyone has a valid ticket on them and assists if there might be an issue with the pass being read by the RFID gates (remember, keep your passes away from your cell phone, credit card and anything with foil as it blocks the signal to the gate system). Plus, you might even see them dancing and getting the guests in line dancing as these people enjoy the guest interaction and are just plain "happy." This week's Silver Screener...Gary Singer!
The Silver Sorter Award, new to PCMR this season, is presented to the volunteer lift line coordinator that provides customer service above and beyond, and represents what volunteering at Park City Mountain Resort is all about. Volunteers at PCMR are wonderful people that assist our guests in so many ways and these LLC's (Lift Line Coordinators, not Limited Liability Corporations) make guest service and safety their utmost concern and assist our guests getting through the lift lines and onto the lifts in a timely, ordlerly and safe fashion. Congratulations to this week's Silver Sorter, Aaron Alford!
As you can see, it is not all about the lift towers that power you up the lifts each day. It is about the human power of those in the lift ops department providing the guest service and safety that is key to PCMR.
Come and discover what makes PCMR one of the best resorts and we will see you on the mountain.
As the Lift Ops motto reads..."Be safe, look good and have fun" out there!
Originally from the Pocono’s of Pennsylvania, Travis found his way to Park City three years ago and is now our grooming manager. When not in snowcat you can find him skiing or snowmobiling in the Utah backcountry or enjoying the skiing here at Park City Mountain Resort.
