Count on two things when talking to ski town locals: they'll remind you "there're no friends on a powder day" and they'll button up when you ask where their favorite powder stash is.
Park City Mountain Resort's new Powder Club, however, breaks both of those rules: putting you in a fun group led by an instructor who shows you the best spots to hit on the mountain - all before the lifts are open to the public. No membership is required - just purchase tickets for a Powder Club session between 8-8:30 any morning after the Resort has received more than six inches of snow overnight. I tagged along with the Powder Club recently, after 13" of snow fell the night before, and enjoyed by far my best ski day so far of the young season!
Powder Club grabs first tracks through 13 inches of brand new snow on Newport
The Powder Club jumps on PayDay lift promptly at 8:30 a.m. and gets around the mountain to enjoy first tracks before the lifts open to the public at 9. Whether you're a seasoned powderhound just looking to be pointed in the right direction, a pow novice looking for some tips on turning in the deep stuff, or somewhere in between, this special 3-hour tour of the mountain is designed with you in mind.
Enjoying my reward for getting an early start with the Powder Club
There's nothing like getting first tracks on a powder day and feeling like you have the whole mountain to yourself. But if you think I'm wrapping up this blog post by sharing my own favorite stash, you've got another thing coming. You'll just have to get out with the Powder Club and discover your own.
Powder Club is for
skiers only skiers AND snowboarders, and is only offered when there has been 6 inches of new snow the previous 24 hours. Registration is in-person only at the Resort Services Office ticket windows in the Resort Plaza between 8-8:30 a.m. for $125 during the regular season and $130 during holiday periods - click HERE for more Powder Club details. For the inside scoop on when Powder Club is offered, sign up here for our POWDER ALERT emails (sent when we receive at least 6 inches of snow the previous 24 hours).
