The weather has turned cold, car defrosting is once again part of Parkites' morning routines and the snow guns are firing around the mountain. And this weekend, it's time for another of town's beloved winter-is-almost-here traditions: the Park City Ski & Snowboard Swap!
At 41 years old, Park City's is one of the longest-tenured and largest such swaps in the country - filling the Basin Recreation Field House at Kimball Junction with new and used skis, snowboards, boots, poles, clothing and accessories. And maybe the best part: 30% of sales go to help the Park City Ski Team tear it up for another season.
The swap kicks off Friday night - and while it technically runs through Sunday, here's a protip for you: get there Friday for the best gear 'cause it'll gone by the time the weekend rolls around.
Looking to move some gear? You can still check in anything you want to sell today at Cole Sport or Jans on Park Avenue, or get it to the Field House between 3pm - 7pm on Friday before they open the doors to the public at 8:00. And don't forget to have a little cash in your pocket for the entry fee - don't worry, you more than make it up on the deals they've got inside.
And you know what it means once we clear this landmark in the calendar: the homestretch to Opening Day in two weeks!
Originally from the Pocono’s of Pennsylvania, Travis found his way to Park City three years ago and is now our grooming manager. When not in snowcat you can find him skiing or snowmobiling in the Utah backcountry or enjoying the skiing here at Park City Mountain Resort.
