Chairs are going up on Crescent Lift!

I suppose that if there's good news to come out of this unseasonably warm weather, then it must be that progress on our new Crescent Lift has been moving along rapidly. I had heard that four chair were put on the haul rope yesterday so the crew could run the lift for some initial checks. Those must have gone fine, because they've been ferrying chairs from the parking lot to the lift for most of the day today.
I just took these photos and as you can see it's starting to really look like a lift, the load test is scheduled for Monday and then all we need is some cold and snow (and yes, I will update the blog with ANY information on snowmaking, snow, etc. as soon as it happens)!
My family is looking into coming to Park City for the first time this winter. We want to stay somewhere close, nice yet affordable. Where would you recommend?
Eric replies:
Good morning Sabrina, I recommend calling Park City Mountain Reservations at 800-331-3178 as they have the expertise in terms of which property will best suit your family's needs - there are a lot of lodging options here in Park City. Hope to see you on the slopes!

Its good to see another lift going in at the base, it get a bit mad during the holidays with all the tourons...visitors getting on Pay Day.
It'll be sad to see the old Ski Team lift go, i have alot of fond memories...is there any way i could get a couple chairs from it when it gets taken down?
Eric replies:
Hi Clark, to my understanding, Ski Team lift will most likely be sold, so i doubt that any chairs will be available individually for sale. If they are, I will certainly try to let you know. BTW, I personally remember hiking up to the base of Ski Team lift on many a powder day back when it was uphill from Steeps.

I check the GFS computer models when I'm looking for storms in the future and I've been reading the National Weather Service discussions and it appears we could have a storm moving in around Wednesday next week with snow possibly through the weekend. Good news could be in the offing! I'll be in Park City until Sunday of next week and I'm holding out hope to get a few turns in by Saturday which could be more likely if the storm pans out. Pray for snow!!!
Eric replies:
Patrick, we are cautiously optimistic that we'll be able to open sometime later next week, keep those positive thoughts up!

This sucks...I plan on arriving in Park City for my 1st ski trip in Utah on Dec.12th. Do you think things will be better by then ?
Eric replies:
Norman, things can change really quickly in the mountains, so stay positive and I know the conditions will be at least a bit more reliable than the stock market *fingers crossed*!

Whats the snow prediction for the XMAS holiday? Should I bring my snow skis or my tennis racket.
Eric replies:
John, put it this way, I'll be quite surprised if we're not skiing by the end of next week. Predicting weather in Park City for over a month out is something I don't think anyone would touch; for example, I recall it snowing over 100 inches over Thanksgiving weekend just a few years ago! I guess I'm saying, plan to bring the snow skis ;-)

So do you have an update on how soon they'll be able to open the lift?
Eric replies:
Hi Eric, once the load test is done on Monday, to my understanding, the lift will be essentially ready to go - aside from the minimal amount of snow :-(

You bloggers are the best in the industry! All we need now is some snow!
Eric replies:
Thanks Ryan, I agree that you're definitely correct on your 2nd point! ;-)

ok, thanks. Really looking forward to some snow, but the weather at pcmr looks like 14 degrees F currently, so that's a plus.
Great updates.
Eric replies:
Thanks pacer521, we're trying our best to keep everyone in touch with what the situation is like here. Unfortunately, I just looked at the base weather station readings on our internal network and I'm now trying to get the reading our website fixed, because the website should be showing 33, not 14 degrees *bummer*.
