Control our Cams

Our live, controllable PTZ (pan, tilt and zoom) cameras have been one of the most popular features on parkcitymountain.com for as long as I have been working here. Over, the past several years, we have moved cameras around to find the most interesting vantage points and more recently we have even added an HD Cam up at the top of Crescent Lift. Now we just turned on the newly upgraded Resort Plaza HD Cam with an updated HD cam interface that is also now available on the Crescent HD cam. Plus the existing standard definition Summit and 3 Kings Cams are both still providing fantastic live streaming images.
The new HD cam interface is quite intuitive, but in case you have any questions, here's a quick run through on how to use it:
- Browse to either the new Resort Plaza HD cam or Crescent HD cam pages.
- Click on the "Click to Play Live Video" box in the center of the cam image.
- Check out the live video feed, or click "Control Camera" to steer the cam around.
- If there is nobody else controlling the cam, you will then seen controls allowing you to pan, tilt or zoom the camera, or select from one of many preset views, you can even click the "expand" button to make the viewer fill your entire screen.
- Be sure to move the cam to what you want to see quickly as we do have the cam control set to move the next person in line and you can see how long that might might in the timer section.
We have another much awaited improvement with our two HD cams beacuse they both now stream on iOS devices, no control option yet, but the cam video strem is viewable. Trust me, we pushed our dev team hard to get this one!
Have fun and I'd love to hear your best cam tips in the comments (which cam and where do you point to see just how much has come down). One of my favorite tips is to try the cams at night as there are still plenty of things to check out once the sun goes down, from the lights at Kimball Junction on the Crescent HD cam to the groomers passing by the Summit Cam to the pipe cutter in the Eagle Superpipe from the 3 Kings Cam. Let's hear your fave's!
I really like the upgrade to the Crescent HD cam, and the new Resort Plaza HD cam. You can really see the difference elevation play on the snowfall.
Residing on the US East Coast, I love to check out the cams in the morning to watch the sun rise, or in the evening to catch the sunsets. Spectacular. Being able to watch the streaming video a year ago helped me keep my sanity when I was putting in 18-hour days on a work project. I'd take a break and watch the snow fall, sun rise or set, or skiers cruise past.
Thanks!

Thank you John! Glad to hear that you're enjoying the cams, hopefully you can get out here to enjoy what you're seeing on the cams sometime soon.

set up cameras that detect wifi beacons that skiers carry, then sell the videos that the cameras recorded that were in a specific range of the wifi beacon. money.

I like how you think Shane - these cams don't have that capability but this is certainly something we'll keep in mind for the future!
