One week to go!
— Posted by Eric on November 15, 2008
I'm currently in Minnesota at the Minneapolis Ski & Snowboard Show, but I just checked our Resort Plaza webcam and I'm happy to see our snowmaking crew is hard at work getting the slopes covered with snow! It's great that we're getting snowmaking done now, because we are anticipating another 'dose' of Indian Summer for the next several days - it currently looks like it should starting cooling down by Wednesday (fingers crossed).
In other news, our new Crescent Lift has had its haul rope installed, and chairs are being assembled and hung in anticipation of having the load test done next Saturday as well.
FInally, if you're looking to start your winter sooner, be sure to stop by the Fat Flake Festival today at the Gallivan Center in Salt Lake City.

With the addition of the Crescent lift, does that mean that Ski Team is going to be retired, or will it still be in use? I always love running laps on that lift, as it's never busy and gives just enough time to recover for another great run down.
Eric replies:
James, Ski Team will be used this season, but mostly as a standby lift during busier times. As you probably know, Crescent will service the same terrain as Ski Team plus a bit more, but it will be a minute and a half quicker - I know I like that extra rest time sometimes myself ;-)

I lived in PC as a kid but moved away in the late 70's. My wife and I are coming for a visit Dec. 5th. We will be checking out my old stomping grounds in SLC, Brighton and PC and hope to get some beginners sking in. I sure hope a storm brings some snow. If not, will all be lost?
Eric replies:
Hi Tim, it's great to hear you're returning to your roots. A storm would really help us to get the season going, but at this point, cold enough temperatures for snowmaking would be just as helpful. Keep checking our blog for updates and think snow!

So are you guys actually going to open on opening day?! I'm excited to tear it up again. I'll be teaching a friend to snowboard that day, so will the first time lift/runs be open too? Thanks for your help!
Eric replies:
Hi Andy, sorry it took me this long to respond, but I've just put up a post with "the word" and unfortunately, we have postponed opening until we get colder temps :-(

So there will be features opening day?
Eric replies:
Adam, there will be features on opening day (see my recent post regarding when that will be), how many and where depends upon conditions.

still looking good?
Eric replies:
Johny, it looks like we'll have somewhat warmer weather through Wednesday, but we got some decent snowmaking in over the past few days...we'll keep you posted!

you guys should tell the park crew get good park when you guys open, if not a good legit super park depending on the snow, kinda like last season (but better).. please ive waited seven months to shred.. so make my last season incredible.. thank you! =)
Eric replies:
Wood, I know that Jim and his park crew will have as many features as they can up for our opening. It can be tough though, because we often are not able to open the actual park runs until a bit later; however, we'll do what we can to make your season great. ;-)
