Like many places, summer is construction season in Park City and that includes road work. Orange construction cones have sprouted up like a World Cup slalom course over the past few weeks. Don't fret, you won't need your GS suit to navigate the construction and escape to the fun of all the summer activities here at Park City Mountain Resort. To make things easy, here's a quick list of the different construction projects you may encounter on the way to the resort:

• I-80 resurfacing from Salt Lake City to Park City is anticipated to begin on June 25, 2012 and extend into early September. See Renovate I-80 (from UDOT) for more information.
• UDOT will also be working on sections of SR-224 and 248, see this brochure for the current work schedule on this project.
• Empire Avenue, the street which runs just East of our parking lots, will be under construction though most of the summer. Access to our parking lots may vary, but they will always be accessible. For more information on this project visit the City of Park City's site.
• There are also many special events throughout the summer that may impact traffic, including the Ragnar Relay Wasatch Back, Park City Food and Wine Classic,  Big Stars Bright Nights concerts and the local favorite Park City Kimball Arts Festival. A great way to keep track of these events and others is via the Park City Chamber / Bureau website.

Don't be alarmed if you see a summer slalom course of road construction cones on your way to or from the resort, it might add a few more minutes to your drive, just think of it as a way to your refresh your winter skills in the middle of summer, on second thought it's probably a better idea to stay inside the cones!
