Opening day was a huge success thanks to the hard work of the entire Park City Mountain Resort team. Our slope maintenance team did a fantastic job ensuring that the open runs had excellent conditions. Plus, our terrain park crew built what many were calling the "best opening day park ever!"
The morning started off really early for those who wanted the honor of being on the first chair. Interested in being on the first chair for the 2010-2011 season? This year's "first chair team" has some advice:
And in case you are interested. Here's a video showing "How to turn a six-pack chairlift into a seven-pack lift". It's pretty comical:
If you were up here today, I'd love to hear what you thought of opening day conditions.
Krista, Thanks for saving for posterity the advanced skills of old guys getting in lift chairs "properly". Kids, don't try this until you have a lot more experience! Tom gave a beautiful demonstration of how to do it! As an aside, the snow was surprising good – after we finally got to it. Jim Moss (the second guy in black on the left of the oldsters chair) Krista replies: I think it was Tom's way of saying "I don't have to get here at 5 am to be on one of the first chairs..." It certainly made for a great video. Glad you agree. It is always great to see you on the slopes...and in Legends. Here's to another great season. See you soon.

Andy has skied the Park City area for 20 years, and is excited to finally be a full-time PC resident and call Park City Mountain Resort his home mountain.
Originally from the Pocono’s of Pennsylvania, Travis found his way to Park City three years ago and is now our grooming manager. When not in snowcat you can find him skiing or snowmobiling in the Utah backcountry or enjoying the skiing here at Park City Mountain Resort.
