I know all of you powder hounds have been waiting to hear when Jupiter Lift is going to open. Mark (aka 406) and the snow safety team have been hard at work trying to get this area open. The variable temps and heavy snow have made the snow pack unstable. In fact, today while doing Avalanche Control (AC) work they triggered three slides! They are going up again tomorrow morning to do more AC work but they are telling me that they hope to have it open by late morning/early afternoon. This is if all goes well tomorrow morning because of course the first priority is safety and if they don't deem it safe, we won't open it. Of course our second priority is skiing/riding in 42 inches of fresh powder, which I am hoping to be enjoying tomorrow!
In other openings, Eagle and Silver Star Lifts will open tomorrow. Silver Star will open for uploading/downloading only. The Eagle Superpipe will also open.
See you tomorrow.
I am making my first trip to Park City in 10 days. Ther are 6 of us coming and all are advanced/expert skiers. Our first vist to Utah was last year to Snowbird and had a blast! my question; what's the best way to ski the area? We are staying at the Snowflower lodge slopeside.
Eric replies:
Rich - check out www.mymountainplanner.com - put in your preferred level and what you want to ski, follow the recommendations and enjoy!
