That's right the World Superpipe Championships is this Saturday and Sunday. I spent some time in the athlete registration room today and talked to some of the best athletes in the world - Shaun White, Torah Bright, Keir Dillon, Mason Aguirre and more. I love this event for several reasons:
1) For two days I get an inside glimpse of the hip and cool world! I definitely would not be classified as cool, but somehow just being around this group of athletes takes me back to my better days.
2) I love watching the camaraderie between the athletes. They all cheer each other on and love watching the others throw down good runs. Did I mention they are competing for a piece of a $90,000 purse? I don't know that I'd be cheering for one of my competitors with that much money on the table.
3) It's a free event and anyone can be within 5 feet of Shaun White! (Note to the crazy people - don't think this is your opportunity to kidnap the Flying Tomato because I will stand in your way!).
4) Good music, lots of food and tons of fun!
Join us this weekend at the event. The female snowboarders compete Saturday, March 10 at 10:30 am and the Male snowboarders follow at 12:30 pm. The male skiers have their turn on Sunday with the event beginning at noon. I'll see you there.
On another note, I want to say congratulations to fellow blogger Eric. He and his wife a
re the proud parents of a new little girl, Kaitlynn Anne. She was born Sunday, March 4 at 11:31 am. Isn't she a beauty! I'm sure dad will have her out on skis next season.
Please repair the summit camera as it ash been out of focus and difficult to control for months.
Would you consider moving the Crown cam to a pole closer to the Payday run. This would allow one to view skiers from way up the slope until they are out of sight at the lower end. One could still see skiers and boarders on the play toys. One could also see a long way down toward First time lift. Thanks for making this format available.
Eric replies:
The Summit Cam is being completely replaced with new equipment in the next few weeks, hopefully this will get us some great images for years to come!
We'll look into resituating the KC cam, but power and connectivity are the issue with that one.
