In my world of living and breathing skiing (snowboarding in my case) and working for a ski resort, Labor Day has always served as the official kickoff of the countdown to winter. It’s a huge milestone for us here at the Resort, but I am going to take it a step further and extend the milestone to you.
I am proclaiming Labor Day weekend as the official weekend of “Back to Ski Shopping”. I can’t claim this to be my original idea, Gart Brothers created SNIAGRAB (bargains spelled backwards) in 1954, which boasts over 30,000 customers. Will you be one of them? Park City Mountain Resort will be at Sniagrab selling season passes Friday – Monday. Come visit us and pick up your pass for the upcoming season, it is also a great opportunity to check out the ski and snowboard gear that will be available for up to 70% off. Sniagrab is held at the Utah Sportscastle Sports Authority in Murray.
Another great place to hang out with us this weekend is at the Park Silly Sunday Market. In my opinion, September is the best month to get Silly! With fall in the air and the leaves starting to change, we are excited to help you understand why Park City really is the place for you. The Park Silly Sunday Market runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You can’t forget Park City’s Miner’s Day celebration, which is most likely the most creative Labor Day celebration in the country. We will have some special guests with us and will be marching in the parade down Historic Main Street Monday, September 2. Miner’s Day in Park City is a full day affair. Be sure the check out the schedule of events.
And, of course, our summer activities are open and will be open daily through October; please note Late Season Operation Hours. Legacy Sports is currently running a fantastic sale. While researching for this blog, I was able to pick up a fun summer dress, some new work out shorts and a great fall outfit all for 50% off! Last year’s outerwear is also marked down.
So, my suggestions for the weekend are Sports Authority on Saturday to get your pass and skis / snowboard for the season. Silly Market on Sunday to get Silly and maybe talk to Andy or myself about why a PCMR season pass is right for you. Monday, check out the parade on Main Street and then head over for a coaster ride and Crescent Burger.
Originally from the Pocono’s of Pennsylvania, Travis found his way to Park City three years ago and is now our grooming manager. When not in snowcat you can find him skiing or snowmobiling in the Utah backcountry or enjoying the skiing here at Park City Mountain Resort.
