I’ve written about how much I love this event several times, but this year I feel that it is important to share a few behind the scenes heroes with you.

How many times have your kids asked you how Santa does it all? You have to give credit where credit is due and we all know, Santa would be lost without his elves.  Here at Park City Mountain Resort, Santa’s elves are the key players in pulling off many of the miracles we see every day, but some of the most important elves are the ones that help Santa get ready to ride down the Town Lift.

Once Town Lift finishes carrying skiers and riders up and down the mountain for the day, our Lift Maintenance team arrives at the lift to begin putting the pieces together for the event. It is a very detailed project, and a project this team doesn’t take lightly. Just like Santa’s elves on Christmas Eve, this event couldn’t happen without the dedicated work of these guys.

Last January, one of these elves came to me with a problem.  You see, Santa’s sleigh losing its luster. As you can imagine, this was unacceptable to both Santa and me, so we had to fix it.  Now, this elf had lots of things on his plate, but he decided that this project was so important that he continued to remind me that we had work to do until he received the ok. 

Saturday, December 15 when Santa comes down the Town Lift you may notice Rudolf and his friends shining a little brighter, a little more spring in Santa’s sleigh and well, we have Elf Jason to thank.  Jason has since been called to assist Santa in Portland, so he’ll miss the event this year. I’m confident that our other elves will be able to get Santa set up for a successful departure and would like to send a little shout out to these unseen heroes!  I anticipate this year’s Santa Coming Down the Town Lift will be one of the best, brightest events yet. It is certainly something, you don’t want to miss.

6:15 p.m.                   Santa’s elves send Santa on his way
