Feel Like a Kid Again on PCMR's Adventure Alleys

Adventure Alley's aren't just for kids. FACT. This Monday I went on an Adventure Alley tour with a group of skiers and snowboarders all in their late twenties and older. After spending the morning hunting powder in the trees, we decided we needed something new for the afternoon. Rather than hit up the terrain parks, or hike Jupiter Peak, we wanted something different, something new. The plan… go on a Snow Bug hunt and find all 5 Adventure Alleys.

Although everyone in my group was a Park City local, most of them had never done an Adventure Alley at Park City Mountain Resort before. I was asked, "Aren't those for little kids," "I thought those were only for ski school," "Is that what the snow monsters are for?" Adventure Alleys are for everyone and each is marked by it's own unique Snowbug. We started off with Powder Monkey, which is below the Black Forest trees of McConkeys. Powder Monkey winds through the lower trees dropping you into a gully that pops out at the bottom of McConkeys lift. At the finish everyone had huge smiles on their faces. They were pumped and I knew the game was on to complete our mission.

Next we hit up Blaster, located below Bonanza lift on Homerun. Our group was cheering and hollering as we rode through the trees. No cheating was allowed, you had to enter at the Snow Bug and leave at the Snow Bug….no exceptions. This excitement followed as we found Detonator, a ski school favorite. You can spot the exit of Detonator from Silverlode lift and just might find people cheering for you as you make your triumphant finish. Short Fuse zips you through the trees alongside Claim Jumper and shoots you back onto an easy Green run.

We saved my favorite for last, TNT. I had talked this run up so much, I was worried I may have set the bar too high and disappoint my friends. Well, TNT did not disappoint! Set off at the bottom of Parley's Park, this area has long been a favorite of Park City locals. This spot was made for an Adventure Alley and is one of the longer runs. My group loved TNT and called it one of the mountain's best kept secrets.

Who would have thought that a group of "older kids" would have so much fun on these Adventure Alleys, but we were loving it. Next time you visit Park City Mountain Resort be sure to hit up our Signature Runs, Terrain Parks and yes, our Adventure Alleys.
