Ready…Set...Go Go Go! Racing is revving back up at Park City Mountain Resort. Ski racers of all ages are tuning their skis and buckling their boots tight. Devoted ski teams can be seen training hard under the lights on PayDay before the resort opens and long after it closes. While ski racing can get competitive in a winter hotspot like Park City, fear not for there are racing opportunities for skier and riders of every skill level.
As of December 22nd, NASTAR racing is open to the public for racing every day of the week. The NASTAR Program gives riders of all ages an opportunity to work on their racing abilities. It is not unusual to have racers ranging in age from three years old to 90 years of age – so don’t be shy, anyone can give it a go. Everyone has a chance to win and receive a medal with a very friendly handicapping system. Two courses are set daily so racers may battle head-to-head with friends or family.
Further, we have some exciting changes at NASTAR this year. First is NASTAR’s new spokesman, Park City’s own Ted Ligety. Ligety is an Olympic gold medalist who grew up racing at Park City Mountain Resort, and has run through our very own NASTAR course many times. Our second exciting addition is live timing. Live timing means racer times will be posted to the NASTAR website instantaneously following a run. NASTAR racers can track their times via smart phone or computer to see their progress and keep an eye on how close they are to earning another medal.
We can’t wait to see you out there!
