I’m super honored to be a guest blogger on the PCMR website this season and I’ve been asked to introduce myself.
My name is Nicole Roundy; although I’m known in the circle as “Roundy.” I’m a member of the US Paralympic Snowboard Team, I have a superpower and I ride park city.
No, really, I have a superpower. I can break my leg and be back on the snow the next day.
Ok, it’s not really a superpower but I’d like to think that it is. My right leg is made of titanium, aluminum, magnesium, steel, and probably some other metallic component. Nearly 20 years ago I was treated for bone cancer and underwent chemo therapy and all that jazz. I opted to ditch my right leg, above-the-knee and keep living life.
Not to brag or anything, but it’s been pretty awesome. I started snowboarding when I was 18 and competing two years later. Now I’m what they refer to as a professional snowboarder. (And people said I would never snowboard! Booyah!) I snowboard because I love it, I breathe it. I would eat it for breakfast if I could. Is that obsessive? Probably.
I was originally a "park rat," but my sport of choice is boardercross. This season I've got a packed schedule and I'm stoked to share my adventures here on the Blog. You can also follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Originally from the Pocono’s of Pennsylvania, Travis found his way to Park City three years ago and is now our grooming manager. When not in snowcat you can find him skiing or snowmobiling in the Utah backcountry or enjoying the skiing here at Park City Mountain Resort.
Nicole Roundy is a world class snowboarder on the US Paralympic Team. She is a cancer survivor, inspiration seeker, crossfit training, Park City riding superpower blogger. Follow her adventures right here. You can also spy her on twitter (@nicoleroundy) and Instragram (@nroundy)
