Opening Date Set for November 23

Here's the body text of a note that we've distributed to Park City area businesses about our re-scheduled opening date:

After assessing the conditions on the mountain we have elected to put our opening off until Wednesday, November 23. This will allow us to open with a better product and provide more access for skiing and snowboarding on the Lower Mountain.

The last couple nights the temperatures have permitted us to run the guns around the clock, however, the temperatures have warmed up during the day allowing us only to make snow at night.

Our current plan is to open the Payday Lift, which allows for skiing and riding on Payday Run, Treasure Hollow and Homerun. Of course snowmaking conditions will determine what we can get open. We will also open First Time lift which will service the Turtle Trail to provide beginner teaching terrain. We will be able to accommodate all level of skiers or snowboarders from a green level ability on up.

Legacy Café will be open and will be serving a delicious assortment of fresh food.

The two newly remodeled restaurants in Legacy Lodge will also be open. Legends Bar and Grill, located where Mountain Logo was, serves signature martinis, bistro-style appetizers and delicious entrees. Kristi’s Café will serve an assortment of fresh baked muffins and bakeries along with several cold and hot beverages.

We certainly appreciate your understanding and are looking forward to another great season.

I have to add that while I'm personally disappointed in that I'm ready to make some turns, I also understand that we couldn't have provided a very good product by this weekend and that the extra time we'll have by delaying until Wednesday will allow us to open more runs and have the snow quality on those runs be much better.

In the meantime, it looks like things may change weather wise around Thanksgiving weekend which will bode well for all the Resorts here in the Wasatch - let's hope for more than Turkey next week!
