The 2002 Olympic Winter Games had various locations throughout Park City and the greater Salt Lake City area.The Super G course, as well as the downhill, were actually held at Snowbasin Resort outside Ogden, on the Wildflower Trail. Snowbasin is just over an hour from Park City.
Park City Mountain Resort was host to Giant Slalom, on CB's run, as well as snowboarding halfpipe and parallel giant slalom for snowboarding. In fact, female snowboarder Kelly Clark (who recently took bronze in the Sochi Games), won USA's first gold medal of the 2002 Olympics in Park City Mountain Resort's halfpipe. One of our favorite places to find some great Olympic history is the Utah Olympic Park. It has a free museum for visitors and you can also catch local atthletes training for racing, bobsled, luge, ski jumping, and more. Click on the link here for all information pertaining to the Utah Olympic Park. The Alf Engen Museum has several interactive exhibits, including a new ride where you can simulate kite skiing and a bobsled ride.
