Park City Mountain Resort Helps NBC’s TODAY Show Count Down to the 2014 Winter Games

Park City, Utah (February 5, 2013) – NBC’s TODAY show is celebrating the one-year countdown to the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia this week and Park City Mountain Resort plays a central role with the design and construction of a slopestyle course in New York City’s Rockefeller Center. U.S. Freestyle skiing team athletes, including Park City All Star Tom Wallisch and Bobby Brown and Keri Herrman will hit the course live on the air Wednesday morning.

Fresh off his supervision of this past weekend’s Sprint U.S. Grand Prix snowboarding and freeskiing halfpipe competition in PCMR’s Eagle Superpipe, Resort terrain park manager Jeremy Cooper and his team will build the slopestyle course in the center of one of New York’s most famed tourist attractions, and just steps from the TODAY Show’s iconic Studio 1A. The course will be featured prominently live throughout Wednesday TODAY’s show. Park City Mountain Resort’s sister resort, Killington Resort, home to one of the East’s most powerful snowmaking systems, began making snow for the course last week and filled five trucks for the delivery to midtown New York straight from Vermont.

Ski Slopestyle makes its Olympic debut in next year’s Sochi Winter Games, which runs February 6-23, 2014. Park City Mountain Resort will host the 2014 Olympic Freeskiing Slopestyle and Halfpipe team naming event in January 2014.

Guests are invited to Rockefeller Center to meet Olympic hopefuls and get pictures taken in a chairlift. The event is free and open to the public. Arrive at 49th and Rockefeller Center before 7 a.m. for best viewing. Tweet your excitement using hashtag #Olympics2014.
