The best way to keep skiing and riding safe for your children is to make sure they understand the following safety tips. We have provided some useful tips and information to help make your time on the mountain safe and fun.
In a continued effort to maximize the safety and well-being of our Ski and Snowboard School guests, we are requiring all participants 17 years old and younger to wear a helmet. Helmets are available for purchase in Legacy Sports or can be rented for an additional charge of $8 at Park City Mountain Rentals or Kids Signature 3 Check-In.
Park City Mountain Resort supports and encourages our guests and employees to wear helmets while skiing and riding. For additional information visit Lidsonkids.org.
Child Age Limit
Children who are riding the chairlifts at Park City Mountain Resort must be at least 2 years of age and be able to load, ride and unload without being carried. They must also be wearing skis or other alpine sliding devices. Guests will not be allowed to access the chairlifts with a child in a carrier such as a backpack or chest pack. The purpose of this policy is for the safety of the child in the unlikely event of a lift evacuation or injury to the adult.
Dress your child in layers so they can be comfortable in a wide variety of conditions and be prepared for the rapidly changing weather.
Put on sun protection and make sure your child is always wearing either goggles or sunglasses.
Keep the name and phone number of your accommodations, along with your cell phone number, in a secure pocket of your child's coat or ski pants.
Enroll your child in ski school to make sure they get started properly. Our instructors know how to teach kids so they learn the proper techniques, progress faster and enjoy their skiing or riding time with you more.
Your main focus should be the overall experience. It is smart to be prepared with alternative care for your children.
If you find they are not ready to enjoy skiing or riding this season, wait and try next year, it won't inhibit their future snowsport potential and you can still enjoy your time getting out as a family.
