Tips for First Timers to Park City
If you’re coming to Park City for the first time, here are some tips from my recent visit with my family, including a wheelchair user, that might make it easier for you:
People with handicapped placards can park underground free in The Lodge at the base of Park City Mountain Resort. Simply pull in and show your placard.
Wear goggles and protect your face with a scarf or something similar on the Alpine Coaster. While a ton of fun, snow flying in your face will dampen the experience.
Wheelchair users should consider investing in snow tires. It makes a big difference in slushy conditions.
The Pig Pen Saloon at the base of Park City Mountain Resort is a great place for Apres-Ski. They have a great selection of warm, cozy drinks including my favorite, the Caramel Pig.
Ahi-Seared Nachos at The Legends Bar and Grill at the base of Park City Mountain Resort are not to be missed. The Legends Burger is a wonderful choice as well.
The Legends Café is where all the kids from ski school eat lunch. It can be busy and crazy but there is a huge assortment of yummy choices.
The condos at Silver Star have a lift right outside and a free shuttle running back and forth to the base. It’s wonderful to return to your private balcony Jacuzzi after a long day skiing.
Grocery shopping is a breeze because there are several options as you drive through Kimball Junction from the Salt Lake City International Airport including Wal-Mart, Smith’s and Whole Foods.
