The Cosmic Snowball Theory: How to Maintaining Your Self-Respect Your First Time on a Snowboard

I get it. I do.

The baggy clothes.  The ear buds.  The utter focus as they dip into the lodge for…  For what?  I've never even seen them eat.  They live on snow and adrenaline alone.  I want some of that unbridled snowboarder energy.  I get it.

Except that you don't live on snow and adrenaline.  You live on lattes, schedules, grocery lists and wine.  You drive a minivan. And you know from experience that just because something looks cool and effortless from afar, it isn't necessarily meant to be imitated.  

But guess what?  You're wrong.  Pump up your teenager's favorite playlist and join me for a foray into baseball's great Bill "Spaceman" Lee's Cosmic Snowball Theory.  

I think about the cosmic snowball theory. A few million years from now the sun will burn out and lose its gravitational pull. The earth will turn into a giant snowball and be hurled through space. When that happens it won’t matter if I get this guy out.

A few million years from now it won't matter if you feel silly, fall getting off the lift or are twice the age of your utterly adorable instructor.  So stop making excuses.  Rent some equipment, book a lesson and have a blast.
