I always buy my kids the coolest helmets we can find, that way they are more excited to wear them. For my daughter, it's all about color (pink) and for my son its about what looks "cool" (camo/other cool design). It's worth the extra cost, and It makes it easier to get them on their heads every time they hit the slopes.
