Silly Sundays in Park City Summer
Sundays Can Be Silly in Utah. You Get Used To It And, In Fact, Learn To Love It!
Summer in Park City, Utah is divine. There’s no denying it, especially in March when you have plowed your driveway for what feels like the 12,784th time.
My family has a particular day that we love in Park City during the summer. It’s Sunday. Were you expecting that day? Of course! It’s a day we have planned out to a tee and it doesn’t involve golf at all. But on that note, golfing in Park City is accessible and fun and worth doing! A great site for all things golf in Utah is http://www.utah.com/parkcity/golf.htm.
But I’m not talking golf. Sunday in Park City brings the Park Silly Sunday Market. This is an amazing event that is entering it’s 5th year in 2011. The Park Silly Sunday Market is an eco-friendly, open-air market that is held on Historic Main Street in downtown Park City. Here, you will find locals and out-of-town visitors enjoying the beautiful summer temperatures (average temperature approximately 77 degrees), great food, groovy music, incredible arts and crafts, fine art, kid’s activities and street performers. It’s a street festival that happens every Sunday beginning in June and running through September. And, it’s SO MUCH FUN!

I am particularly fond of the “Silly Market” as the local’s refer to it. They encourage young entrepreneurs. My lovely artist daughter has been a vendor at Park Silly Sunday Market. It is an amazing experience for young artists to sell their wares and interact with art consumers. She gained so many skills while enjoying a casual environment.
Aside for giving my kid a boost, the Park Silly Market team follows a “No Trace Left Behind,” zero waste philosophy. There are zero waste stations placed through out the market for attendees to take care of their trash. The success is remarkable. In fact in 2008, 60,000 visitors attended the Market. The Park Silly staff collected just 7 ½ bags of trash in that season. 7 ½ bags! The rest of the waste was recycled or composted. Amazing. And even better, the EcoZone is sponsored by Park City Mountain Resort!
Check out the Park Silly Sunday Market. It makes me very proud of my community plus who would thunk you can get some home grown whiskey, fresh lobster and some awesome art on a Sunday in Utah?

I am not paid by any of these sponsors. I dig them. I liive here and hope that my local folk get lots of business. These people work really hard and deserve A LOT of recognition.
