Even Big Boys Wear Helmets: Kelly's Trip Diary Day 1
My hubby has been riding a snowboard for a long time. He was probably strapping on a board, before most people even knew what a snowboard was. We’re talking late 80’s here... fluorescent clothes, skinny stances, stiffer boards, latch bindings & flat board-tails.
Up until today, he has done all of his snowboarding (including tricks, jumps, park & pipe) without a helmet. Yes! You read that correctly - WITHOUT a helmet.
But, in all fairness, I too have spent the last 10+ years flying down the mountain without a helmet.
But no more. We finally bit the bullet and jumped on the helmet-wearing-band-wagon. Suddenly, I realize how dumb we’ve been. We wear helmets when we ride our bikes. Most of our friends wear helmets. Heck! We make our kids wear helmets... so why weren’t we?
So we’ve become proud helmet-wearing snowboarders, I have to admit, it didn’t take long to become “attached.” I honestly don’t think I could snowboard without a helmet now - I would feel practically naked.
