Let the Ski Season Begin!
Ok, I'm ready - maybe not quite prepared - but definitely ready for the start of the ski season here in Park City!
Driving home from a screening at the Park City Film Series last night, my 14-year-old daughter and I found ourselves in a blizzard and thought to each other out loud "tomorrow will be an amazing ski day!"
Winter hasn't come this early to Park City in several years, so needless to say, I was not an organized Snowmama. Between plastic storage bins in the garage, and hunting through the back of the mud room closet for mismatched ski gloves, I gathered up our ski clothes and gear (thankfully, last year's skis and boots are a perfect fit), set the boots to warm by the heater, and we were ready to get up early and head out for Day #1 of the 2010/2011 ski season at Park City Mountain Resort.
Passes? I didn't quite get to that item on my ski to-do list. We found ourselves in a long and friendly line of locals who also procrastinated on this powder day - including one lucky local dog named Maisy who was happy to get her season pass photo taken.
Oh, did I also mention that it's been dumping snow - non-stop - since last night? Nothing like starting the ski season with your favorite teenage daughter and 14+ inches of new snow.
So we are finally ready for our epic inaugural day of skiing, but one problem for this Snowmama - forgot my gloves!
No worries here, cold hands are a small sacrifice to make in exchange for a great Sunday on the mountain.
I look forward to seeing you and your families at Park City Mountain Resort this season.
Hoping your Thanksgiving holiday includes some fun family ski time.
