Snowmamas Holiday Playlist
Snowmamas gathered at the base of Park City Mountain Resort during the recent Snowmamas Summit. We wish you a Happy Holiday Season and a Snowy New Year!
We asked our Snowmamas to give us their favorite holiday/winter songs and they delivered! There are several familiar classics as well as current songs destined to become holiday classics in years to come. So, in no particular order, we offer up our holiday favorites.
Jennifer has two favorites. First, The Christmas Vacation Theme Song by Mavis Staples “because it reminds me of how hilarious the winter holidays can be, family, chaos, The Pledge of Allegiance, wrapping your cat as a gift, a tree that is WAY too big for your house!” Second, Silver Bells “I absolutely LOVE this song. I sing right along and I swear I am in tune, sure of it. Probably not. Still love it!”
Lisa-Marie’s choices were varied and include The Nutcracker (Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies, etc) and Handel's "Hallelujah" chorus from The Messiah. “Of course, I heard lots of Elvis' holiday classics on his It's Christmas Time album....."Blue Christmas" comes to mind. Childhood faves would have to be anything from A Charlie Brown Christmas (Vince Guaraldi Trio). Those jazzy melodies are timeless. I love Harry Connick's When My Heart Finds Christmas CD especially (It Must've Been Ol') Santa Claus. Now, I'll be singing myself to sleep!”
Chara said The Pogues "Fairytale of New York" and of course, The Waitresses, "Christmas Wrapping.”
Barb has two-“Santa Baby love Eartha Kitt singing it ‘cause seriously, it’s just holiday sexy and Baby, It's Cold Outside by Louis Armstrong cause it is just so cute and fun :)”
Amber says “No song resonates more than when "O Holy Night" is sung well. And it's never by me. :)”
Linda says “OK...my faves Winter Weather (Peggy Lee) because I'm a snowmama and I ♥ winter! I'll Be Home for Christmas by Nickel Creek and Let it Snow by Sam Bush - an awesome, fun acoustic version! Happy Holidays!”
Marie “One of my favs right now is Sister Winter from Sufjan Stevens.”
Sugar “One of my favorite modern tunes is Santa Baby by Madonna. For traditional songs, Oh Holy Night sung by Brian Setzer from The Stray Cats. His voice is AMAZING! No one sings it better.”
Lisa Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) Frosty the Snowman by Gene Autry, Ave Marie by Chris Cornell and Baby It's cold outside from Elf soundtrack.
Pam The Twelve Days of Christmas - Straight No Chaser (FABULOUS) Song for a Winter's Night - Sarah McLachlan, Sleigh Ride - Ray Coniff (old and wonderful) Believe - Josh Groban The Christmas Waltz - Kristen Chenoweth God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman - Barenaked Ladies.
