Tour the Mountain For Free: Lisa-Marie's Trip Diary Day 4
Guest Trip Diary by Snowpapa Nick, a member of The Snowmamas/Snowpapas Advisory Council.
Did you know that you can tour the mountain on skis for free? That’s right! Park City Mountain Resort offers guided, historic tours around the mountain daily!
Mountain Host and Historical Tour Guide
I met my Mountain Host tour guide at 10 am at the Eagle statue with five others for a two hour tour. I’d just arrived at the Park City Mountain Resort and wanted to become familiar with the mountain trails and my friendly tour guide was a wealth of information.
Did you know that many trails and lifts are named after the silver mining that took place here and that Park City once hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics?
There are several places on the mountain that offer food and hot drinks. I especially enjoyed our stop at the warm and cozy Viking Yurt.
Adventure Alley on the Historical Tour.
After our stop, we skied down one of the Adventure Alley trails through the woods. Although the trail was marked by Snowbugs, large metal cartoon-like monsters on skis, I’m glad I had a guide to show me the way. I never would have found the Adventure Alleys on my own. Skiing through the trees was exhilarating, but not dangerous.
Snowbug!
The tour primarily ventures on the Blue intermediate trails and sometimes Black expert trails if the group agrees to it. Bring your lift ticket, camera, and your enthusiasm to explore and you will have a very memorable adventure.
Daily tours meet at the Eagle Statue in the Resort Plaza at 10 a.m. and at the Summit Demo Center at 1:30 p.m, ask any Mountain Host for more information. Tips are appreciated.
