Literally "Focused" on Family Fun
Some of our family's best memories are of our ski trips, and one of the best ways to preserve memories is with photos. Which creates a dilemma. While I've been able to snap a few shots at the end of a run, I have not taken shots of anyone in action or the family as a group. Wrestling kids and equipment while skiing or boarding makes handling camera gear nearly impossible. And water is a camera’s worst enemy. It's been fun watching my kids’ skills improve over the years and I so wish I had awesome shots of them in action.
I recently became acquainted with Park City Resorts’ on-mountain photographers, SharpShooter photography. They are professional, fast, and stress-free as we focus on getting our four children down the slopes. And there is no sales pressure. What's not to love?
The Gist of SharpShooters
SharpShooter photographers are stationed at the top of main ski runs taking group photos of skiers. They also have photographers taking random action shots of individuals coming down the slopes. We were able to stage our family for a group shot in addition to checking out their candid shots. The number you see on their sign as you ski past is the batch reference number you need to know when you go to Legacy Lodge to see what photos they have captured. The number changes every hundred photos or so.
No appointment or forethought is necessary. You can request a family portrait at the top of many main chair lifts every day between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. For the candid action shots, SharpShooter has photographers at most popular Green and Blue Runs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., capturing everyone skiing by. Make sure you show off your form when in camera range!
I appreciate that there is no obligation to buy. There is no sitting fee with SharpShooter and if you are not happy with the photos, you don't feel pressure to buy anything.
At the end of our day on the slopes, we stopped at Legacy Lodge where their many computers are set up to tweak and order whichever photos we like. We could also do it later online at our convenience, but we were too excited to wait! All SharpShooter images are stored for two years.
We’re planning an extended family reunion at Park City, so I asked SharpShooter if they could do a big group picture. They said yes. For families who cannot get everyone together at the top of a lift, SharpShooter said they are happy to schedule a group photo at the base, or make an appointment for anyone who requires special accommodations. I have been beyond impressed with their customer service.
Now I can stay focused on making memories with my family and feel good knowing that we will have awesome pictures to enjoy for generations.
