You may have seen the signs for mountain worship while waiting in a lift line. I have seen them too and I always intended to check it out, but when I’m on vacation, other things seem to take precedence. On my latest trip to Park City, I made it a priority to check out the interfaith service and I’m so glad I did.
Interfaith worship services take place at 1:30pm on Sunday afternoons in Loran Larsen Park. This is located just below the top of the Bonanza lift, off Homerun, at the top of Powderkeg and Assessment. It is staffed by a rotation of clergy from different denominations from churches in the Park City area.
On the Sunday I attended, I was lucky enough to meet Robby Plemmons, lead pastor of CrossPoint Presbyterian Church. I made a rookie mistake and arrived at 1:15 and waited a very cold 15 minutes for the service to start. Word to the wise: the veterans wait in the Summit House until 1:27 and then ski down.
Robby had prepared an inspirational message for us which he delivered in an area where we had the most scenic view of God’s creation. The service was completed by 2pm and we all skied off feeling rejuvenated and ready to face the week ahead. I felt like it was the perfect pause in my busy schedule to fill my spirit.
