Mary is right on target! Three years ago, right after we moved to Park City, I applied to be a snowboard instructor at PCMR on a whim. It was something I'd always wanted to do, and just decided to go for it! I wasn't the greatest snowboarder (I was pretty much self-taught) but the training was fantastic and I learned what is undoubtedly the best approach to teaching beginners; we also received a lot of training to improve our own riding. Classes for "Never-Evers" were pretty much all I taught, which was fine with me; I loved that "a-ha!" moment when a student first linked his or her turns! Sadly, the financial downturn meant I had to get a full-time, year-round job, but if I could I'd do it again in a heartbeat. So yes, go for it -- if not at PCMR, at a mountain near you!
