How to Prepare for Your Lesson

Drop Off and Pick Up Information

Park City has two separate base areas: Canyons Village and Mountain Village. The lesson location, as selected at the time of booking, will be listed on your confirmation email. For information on parking, parking reservations and Park City's extensive Free Public Transportation view our Resort Arrival Information page.

At both locations, the check-in process follows the same steps. Note that if you arrive to lesson-check-in late, at the wrong village or without your equipment, we may not be able to accommodate you in a lesson for that day.

Step 1:
Pre-Arrival
  • To get the best start to the day, kids should have had something to eat and been to the bathroom.
  • If your child has specific dietary needs, you will be required to bring an appropriate lunch for them with you to Lesson Check-In.
Step 2:
Equipment
  • If you have a Kids Rental bundled with the lesson, visit the Kids Group Lesson Rentals to get your child's gear.
  • Kids School Rental locations are open 8am - 4:30pm.
  • Kids Rentals can be picked up the day prior to the Lesson after 3pm.
  • Please allow 60 to 75 minutes for the rental process.
Step 3:
Vouchers & Tickets
  • Pick up your voucher(s) on DAY ONE from the Ski & Snowboard School windows in the Plaza (look for the red sign).
  • At the same time, please take a moment to confirm you have your child’s season pass or lift ticket.
  • If needed, you can pick up pre-purchased lift tickets or request a pass reprint at this time.
Step 4:
Lesson Check-In
  • Proceed to the on-snow Ski & Snowboard School Meeting Area to check-in 10-15 minutes prior to the start of your lesson
  • Be sure kids have their lift ticket/pass, lesson voucher and are dressed, with their gear and ready to spend time outside.
  • Look for the overhead signage and enter the area designated for your child’s lesson.

LESSON TIMES AND PICK-UP:

  • Half Day Lessons: Ages 3-4
    • Mornings:  9:00 am to 12:00 pm
    • Afternoons: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
  • Full Day Lessons: Ages 6-14     
    • 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

The lesson will end at the Learning Area. Lesson pick up for all minors age 17 and younger must occur with a responsible adult. All pick up security processes must be followed.

  • If you have a Rental Package bundled with the lesson, visit Canyon Mountain Rentals or Legacy Rentals at Mountain Village to get your gear.
  • Canyon Mountain Rentals is located near the Ski & Snowboard School Sales Office. Legacy Rentals at the Mountain Village is in the basement of Legacy Lodge
  • Our Adult Rental Locations are open 8am until 7pm, and equipment may be picked up after 3pm the day before.
  • Please allow 60 to 75 minutes for the rental process.
Step 2:
Lift Tickets
  • Take a moment to confirm you have your season pass or active lift ticket.
  • If needed, you can pick up pre-purchased lift tickets or request a pass reprint at any ticket window or at the Ski & Snowboard School Sales office.
Step 3:
Lesson Check-In
  • Proceed to the Ski & Snowboard School Meeting Area.
  • Look for the overhead signage and enter the area designated for your lesson.

  • First Time Experience:
    • 9:00am - 3:00pm
  • All Other Ability Levels:
    • Half Day AM:  9:00am to 12:00pm
    • Half Day PM: 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Lesson pick-up for minors ages 15-17 in Adult Lessons must occur with a responsible adult. The lesson will end at the Meeting Area. All pick-up security processes must be followed.

  • Our Rental Locations are open 8am until 7pm, and equipment may be picked up after 3pm the day before.
  • Canyon Mountain Rentals is located near the Ski & Snowboard School Sales Office. Legacy Rentals at the Mountain Village is in the basement of Legacy Lodge.
  • Please allow 60 to 75 minutes for the rental process.

  • Look for the signage and enter the area designated for Private Lessons - Unless you have made other arrangements with your instructor directly.
  • Check-in 5-10 minutes prior to the start of your Private Lesson, with your lift ticket/pass and gear.
  • If there are varied ages and abilities, your instructor will work with you to determine the best way to provide learning opportunities for each participant while managing the group safely.
  • For participants ages 6 and under, we highly recommend a maximum of 4 children per lesson

What to Expect

  • All group lessons are sorted by sport, age, and ability level.
  • The instructor will determine lesson plans based on the group's ability level and goals.
  • All participants will explore terrain aligned to their ability level while practicing new techniques at their own pace.
  • Breaks are determined by the instructor based on needs of the group and timing.
  • If your child brings snacks, please do not pack any that contain tree nuts.
  • Restroom breaks are built into the day, but all participants are encouraged to use the restroom prior to the lesson start time.

What You Need

Gear
Guests are welcome to bring their own equipment and boots if already owned. If renting, please arrive an hour prior to your lesson start time to ensure enough time for pick up.

Helmets

A winter sport helmet is required for all lesson participants aged 14 and under, and 18 and under in designated children’s lessons. We strongly encourage helmet use for all ages. Helmets can be included along with a rental order or rented separately.

Clothing & Accessories
Waterproof snow pants and gloves or mittens are strongly recommended to keep you warm and dry. Goggles protect your eyes from the cold air and block UV light.
