Silverlode Express and Eagle Chairlift Replacements
Park City Mountain has heard the community’s desire for continued mountain investment, and we are excited to be planning two lift replacements as a direct and meaningful next step resulting from that feedback, pending approvals. These replacements are about making the ski day better - shorter lift lines, smoother circulation, and easier access to the terrain and experiences we all love.
These projects reflect our commitment to continued investment and practical dialogue with the community. We are thrilled to build on our history of significant improvements and upgrades, and we look forward to conversations beyond these lift projects about what is important to the Park City community. Our entire team is excited for the work ahead as we continue transforming and improving the Park City Mountain experience. Vail Resorts has invested more than $144 million in the resort since 2015.
SILVERLODE EXPRESS REPLACEMENT
Pending approvals, this replacement of the existing 6-passenger Silverlode Express chairlift, located mid-mountain on the south side of Thaynes Canyon, with a new 8-passenger lift along the same alignment, will reduce lift line wait times and help move guests around the mountain better.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- 5,275-foot, 8-passenger detachable high-speed chairlift
- Same bottom and top terminal locations
- Integrated capacity for lift operation and maintenance workspace
- Designed to reduce lift line wait times and help move guests around the mountain
Silverlode is located in an important mid-mountain area for skiers and snowboarders - whether they are making their way across Thaynes Canyon or lapping the boundless and varied terrain in the Silverlode zone. This lift replacement would better connect guests to terrain and resort amenities, and is one of the biggest areas of opportunity for resort improvement due to high utilization and long lines.
WHAT TO EXPECT
If approved, this chairlift replacement would be conducted during a single summer season, minimizing impact to winter operations. Construction access and activities would comply with all applicable regulations, and any areas disturbed during the replacement would be revegetated using native species.
Phase One – Underway
- Conceptual design and engineering
- Public engagement
- Project permitting through Park City Municipal
Phase Two – Subject to Approvals
- Final design and engineering, construction permits
- Remove existing Silverlode Express chairlift
- Install new Silverlode Express 8-passenger chairlift
- New Silverlode opens
EAGLE CHAIRLIFT REPLACEMENT
Separately, also pending approvals, this replacement of the existing fixed-grip triple Eagle and Eaglet chairlifts, accessed from the Mountain Village base area, with a new 6-person detachable chairlift, will modernize the lift experience, improving access to beginner and intermediate terrain, supporting ski and ride school, and improving connections to popular advanced terrain.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- 5,840-foot, 6-passenger detachable high-speed chairlift
- Midstation with optional unload
- Top terminal near the top of King Con Express chairlift
- Modified alignment creates an additional portal to higher-elevation terrain
- Designed to improve circulation, reduce wait times, and enhance access to all types of terrain
This investment will alleviate pressure on First Time and reduce lift lines at Payday and Crescent, improving the guest experience at all portal lifts, including during inclement weather. It will give guests of all skill levels dependable options for uploading, getting them more quickly to their favorite terrain - both front-side and beyond.
